This walk starts from the farm “Stazzi la China” and goes down to Mancini’s vineyards through a wonderful and perfumed countryside. The vineyards is located at the bottom of San Leonardo hill. The way to reach San Leonardo church and the old castle of Balaiana is a steep climb but it’s supported by the steps made of granite and set in centuries-old rocks. The arrival, after 600 steps, will be reward by a spectacular view. A panorama of 360 degrees allows us to understand the geography of this part of “Gallura”. Coming down we shall walk through various old “Stazzi” where people still take care of their animals. In one of them we can be present at the milking time and learn something about this fascinating life. After that we’ll choose the way to coming back and if we are not to tired we’ll visit the caves where the bandits use to hide from the justice.

N.B.: During the summer months clothing should be light and it is important to
protect against sun and wind. In cooler periods it is important to have warm
clothes but which allow your body to breathe. We advise layers in order to cater
for physical effort and for all possible weather conditions.
